I'm sitting in Amsterdam airport waiting for a flight home - have spent an interesting few days in Arnhem (that's in the east of Holland) at the Dutch Trade show. It's the first time i've been to a trade show in Holland, and it was really interesting to see the trends, and how they differ (dramatically) from those in the UK.
A lot of our products are distributed in Germany by Reddy (who many of you know for their die-cut decoupage selections which we bring to Create & Craft here in the UK). Reddy have recently entered into the Dutch market, so they were showing a selection of our products on their stand. Our Popcorn range has proved really popular in both Germany and Holland.
One thing about Holland, is they are a big cardmaking nation. At this trade show, I would estimate at least 30% of the products on show were for cardmaking (compared to 5-10% when I go to trade shows in Germany or France for example). I took loads of photo's as I was going around, and i've uploaded a selection to my facebook page which you can get to by clicking here:
I was surprised to spot a familiar image as I was walking round...
So I waited and spoke to the lady who was demonstrating, and she explained to me that she was demonstrating Copic pens and Derwent pencils, and the company she was working for let her use whatever stamps she liked... and her favourites were our s.w.a.l.k. images.
Her name is Diny Sprakel and i've found her blog here: http://creadin.blogspot.com/ (but it's all in dutch!)
I promised to send her a selection of the new s.w.a.l.k. stamps that are coming out this week and she was over the moon! (Watch out on the blog the next few days if you want a sneak peak of what's coming up in that range this weekend!)
Must dash, flight to catch... and i'm really excited because i've got a busy day ahead tomorrow, as we have our birthday competition winners coming up to our offices for 2 days for a mega crafting session with both Leann and myself, and we've got some awesome projects planned... I promise to update you all later!
