Well what a few days we’ve had! You may have seen from our blog posts, Tweets and Facebook posts that we’ve been hosting the winners from our Birthday Week competition up here in the North-East over the last few days and we’ve thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it!
Each day throughout Crafter's Companion's Birthday Week last October, we picked an order at random to win a Golden Ticket. This ticket entitled the holder to a year's Gold Membership of our web site, which means 15% discount and FREE next day courier delivery on all mainland UK orders until the end of 2011! At the end of the week, we picked one of the seven winners at random to claim a place for two at our crafting experience. The lucky winner was Denise Buck, who brought her daughter-in-law Karena with her. We also held a cardmaking competition during Birthday Week, which was won by Nandia Fytraki, after receiving her absolutely fabulous Flower Fairies birthday card. Nandia brought her fiancé James with her to our event.
The event was supposed to take place in November, after our Craftaganza event, however due to the heavy downfall of snow we experienced, we had to postpone until this weekend, but I’m sure everyone involved will agree, it was worth the wait. Our guests arrived on Sunday afternoon, and met with Meg and Leann at the hotel on Sunday evening for dinner and introductions. Leann said it was a great opportunity for everyone to get to know each other before the crafting began the next morning!
Monday was a busy day, with an all day craftathon! The first project of the day was a gift box easel card using SWALK designs – as an extra special treat, we even let our crafters use the brand new SWALK stamps that are launching this Saturday (keep your eyes peeled later on in the week for more info on that launch!).
The next project was a Chest of Drawers gift box that I taught using the Ultimate Pro. It’s a gorgeous gift idea, as you can fill each drawer with a different present, and really simple to make, when you know how!
A Crafter’s Companion craft day wouldn’t be complete without using some of the gorgeous designs from Beatrix Potter, and this was no exception! Leann taught us how to make a beautiful side-easel card using designs from the Appley Dapply’s Nursery Rhymes CD-ROM and stamp set. Aren’t they lovely?
I headed back to the hotel early this morning to pick up our winners and bring them over to Crafter’s Companion HQ for their exclusive behind-the-scenes guided tour around the office, stamp production and warehouse. They were told the history of the business, shown where everything goes on, and met all the staff in their various roles. My dad came over to the office to give our competition winners a tour of the stamp production facilities and explain the stamp production process.
Before our winners left, we gave them a set of the brand new SWALK stamps to take away with them. We’ve had a fantastic few days and would like to thank Denise, Karena, Nandia and James for their company.
