Well, we had some really exciting news at the weekend - we found out that our friends are expecting a new baby! They've already got 2 lovely boys (of which Simon is godfather to one of them) so this will be baby number 3, and if my maths is serving me correctly I think it will be due around late September time! :)
We'll be calling round to visit some time in the next few weeks, so I thought i'd better crack on with a card this weekend while I had some free time!
I have to admit, i'm always drawn to the SWALK stamps when it comes to occasions like this (i.e. not your every-year occasions like birthdays or anniversaries!) and I had just the stamp in mind for new parents-to-be. Then as I was looking through my stamps, I found it in a different drawer to my others - and realised that's because the stamp I was thinking of actually hasn't been released yet!
I guess that's one of the perks of the job - we get to work on new products so far in advance, and get to road-test the new new stuff long before it hits the shelves (so to speak!). So this is one of the new designs scheduled for release later this Summer, so i'd love to know what you all think of it!
I got my stash of Spectrum Noir alcohol Pens out - I just LOVE colouring the SWALK images - probably more so than any of our other stamp collections, just because there's so much large open space, so they are great for beginner-colourer-inners (like me!) and I love that you can colour the images to match the people (match the hair colours, favourite colours in the clothes for example!)
As always, (for the benefit of other colouring in learners!) if you're colouring with Spectrum Noir pens, then you'll get the best results if you use the Neenah Cardstock and stamp with a Memento Inkpad - (I used black)
The backing papers are from the SWALK CD ROM Volume 1, the ribbon is my favourite at the moment from our Beatrix Potter Ribbons Collection, and a few gems from the same collection just finished it nicely. I did the base card onto Centura Pearl Snow White, and matted with a bit of Core'dinations Cardstock.
So i've got the card - what else do you take as a gift for new parents to be? I didn't want to take a bottle of wine because poor Lisa won't be able to drink it! And it seems a bit early for baby-things - any ideas would be greatly appreciated people!
Hope everyone else had a great weekend too! Sara xxx
