I feel incredibly privileged...

Well, you're not going to believe what I've been asked to do...!!!

As many of you will have probably already heard, we've got an exciting new launch next Tuesday evening on Ideal World, with some fab new SWALK stamps, and Leann is going down to the studios to do the launch - I'd like to say that's because I'm away in the States on business, but in reality, it's because Leann is WAY better at colouring in than me (well with Spectrum Noir alcohol pens anyway!), and these SWALK stamps need a LOT of colouring in!

Well, as you could well imagine, preparing for a Pick of the Day show is a mammoth task, because we can do up to 10 live hours of crafting within the day, so we need to have loads of demonstrations planned. So, Leann has been on prepping for a few days now, but I almost fell off my chair when she asked me the other day if I (yes that's right, little old novice colourer-inner me!) would help her do some prep!!!

So that's it now - I've made it! Sara the colourer-innerer HAS ARRIVED!!! So I've been sitting here all evening prepping (and I was doing some last night too!), and I'm having an absolute blast!!! Simon (that's my hubby) is sitting here going mad because my head is so big I feel it's about to explode and he's just sick of hearing about it, so I just had to come and blurt it all out in a blog post because I know you lot will totally 'get' where I'm coming from!

The only thing with show prep, is that you need to colour everything in loads of times, because we never know how long we're going to get for a demo, so we have to have it prepared at various stages. I modeled this demo on me and my best friend Sophie because it just reminds me of her so much - (we often love to meet up and spend hours gosipping over a glass of wine... or two!)

Obviously I coloured all of the images with the Spectrum Noir alcohol pens (because they are a big focus of the show next week) and these are the colours I used:

Blonde Hair - CT1, CT3, CT4
Skin - FS1, FS4, FS8
Purple Top - LV1, LV2
Grey Skirt - IG1, IG2, IG3
Blue Top - TB1, TB2, TB3
Brown Skirt - EB1, EB2
Chairs and Table TN1, TN2,
Chair Cushions - HB1, HB2, HB3
Wine - EB1

I like to keep it simple where I can and really use the system as Leann intended, so I stick with colours from the same family - I know Leann switches it up a bit sometimes, but I'm still learning and really don't understand colour composition, so for the main part you'll find I do try and keep it quite basic.

Of course I was stamping onto our Neenah cardstock using a Memento inkpad as I always do when I'm colouring with the Spectrum Noir pens.

I've just inked the edges with a bit of Tim Holtz Distress Ink (surprise surprise, I used the purple!) and I've been getting myself some of our new Non-Stick Craft Sheets from the office that we've just got in stock - to protect the work surfaces in my craft room as much as anything, but mainly because I know I'll use them loads with my Fusion-ing.

I figured most of Leann's demo would focus on the colouring element so the rest of the card is pretty straightforward. I used papers printed from the SWALK CD Volume 1, and I used the new Centura Pearl Accents Cardstock (which I just lurve!) for the base card.

Then I've also done another demo with the Belle of the Ball stamp set (I saw it as a bit of a challenge with getting the shading on the dress right! - I had Leann's DVD on in the background last night refreshing my memory again on how to do it, as she does the Humphrey stamp on the DVD in the same way using Humphrey's mum's skirt)

Here's the colours I used:

Dress: PP1, PP3, PP4
Hair: CT1, CT3, CT4
Eyes: TB2
Skin: FS1, FS4, FS7

To give the card a bit of shape, I used the Spellbinders Nestibilities Grand Labels Twenty Three and cut them on the Grand Calibur Machine, (which I pinched from the office last night.... errrr, I mean 'borrowed'!) I've used the Centura Pearl Accents card again, and this time the papers are from the SWALK CD ROM Volume 2

I also had my Epiphany tool out because I'm doing some shows in a couple of weeks as we now have them back in stock on the website, so the embellishment is made using the Round 14 tool, and then the matching bubble caps.

So I hope our Chivs appreciates all this hard work I've done for her! I have to say I am very flattered that she thinks I'm good enough now to help prep her colouring demos, but at the same time, she's gone off in the caravan for a weekend away with hubby this weekend, so I do wonder how much of it is through necessity she's asked me as opposed to through being in awe of my talents! :) But whatever it was, I was happy to help!

Hope you all like the demos, and make sure you tune in to watch her shows! She's launching the new Pick of the Day on Tuesday evening at 9pm on Ideal World, then she'll have shows throughout the day Wednesday both on Ideal World and Create & Craft, so make sure you keep checking their schedule. I know she's got some awesome demos lined up with the pens and the new stamps, and we've also got some fab new decoupage launching in this range made for us by Reddy, and some lovely new papercrafting accessories which Hunkydory have made for us again (seen as you LOVED the Humphrey ones so much!)

Right, I had better go and pack - I'm leaving early tomorrow morning for my flight to New Jersey, as I'm over in the CHA head offices for a few days for a board meeting, so busy times ahead! Will keep you posted and I'm sure I can take a few piccies while I'm there!
