I'm sitting here in the lounge in Newark Airport waiting fort flight back to Amsterdam (and then back home!) so I thought I'd update you on my trip!
I've been over here for a board meeting (as I was explaining in one of my earlier posts) for the Craft and Hobby Association which is basically lots of really important people from the craft industry getting together to work together to come up with strategies to positively impact our industry all together.
And boy has it been a productive meeting! Lots of really exciting things on the cards for the coming months! Most importantly for me was that myself and one of my colleagues - Mark, we're presenting the final stages of an initiative to launch CHA in the UK - which actually launched officially just a few days ago. We have a board meeting of the UK board of directors next week in manchester (which Mark and some of the other guys are flying over for) and it's set to be a gruelling day where I'm hoping we have lots of important people from the UK industry coming together to work out some exciting initiatives for us over here too!
So anyway, I flew in on Saturday afternoon, had dinner with one of the other board members on saturday evening, then Sunday morning I had a few hours to kill before the meeting - so I hit the local mall and have brought a suitcase full of stuff home! One thing I did buy was a present for my other half - Simon. He loves angry birds so I bought him this giant bird-cushion, except it wouldn't fit in my case when I came to pack this morning, so I'm currently carrying it around Newark airport in my carry-on... (or not quite in the carry-on as the case may be!)
I didn't get chance to take many pictures (it was ALL work - I promise!) except we did all go out for a lovely meal last night and I've got one picture to share... This is one of our latest recruit board-members Kerri, and two of the girls from the CHA office - another Kerri and Nidia...
Now today was a big day because we were going into the CHA head-offices for our meeting, and because we were presenting the final stages of the UK initiative to the board, I wanted to bring some 'British' things over for everyone so we could celebrate. So I brought all these pieces over in my case, and made up this special hamper for the team, and even covered the box in London-wallpaper!
So I'd better go as we're being called for boarding - I should be back home tomorrow lunchtime, just in time to catch the last of Leann's shows on Create & Craft with the new SWALK stamps. Then I'm home a few days before heading off to Germany for the weekend for some demonstrations for our German distributor.
No rest for the wicked hey! Checking out for now, Sara xxx
