Designer Saturday: Katie-Louise Oakley

This weekend we're sharing a bit about one of our newest design team members! Say hello to Katie-Louise Oakley!

My name is Katie; I live in Nottingham with my partner Alex. I started crafting approx. 8 years ago when I first moved to Nottingham. I started off cross stitching, then started incorporating my cross stitched projects into cards.

I also like to dabble with scrapbooking and digital scrapbooking too. Oh, and then there’s also baking (And cake testing, is that classed as a craft?!).

My favourite craft item has to be paper, (Indeed, as a crafter who loves papers, I am sure you will agree – you can NEVER have enough papers!) Oh and CD-Roms (Especially the Toread Character range, they are just too cute and then there is Bamboo from the Party Paws range). I am lucky enough to have my own craft room which is full of goodies, but there just isn’t enough time in the day to spend in it!

I was over the moon when the Design Team Manager contacted me to see if I would like to be part of the Crafter's Companion Design Team, and even more so when I saw my first card on the TV!

The one thing I could not live without is my Silhouette Cameo machine. There are endless possibilities to this machine! I do also love using my Spectrum Noir pens for colouring. I'm not the best at colouring, but practise makes perfect as they say!

Tip 1 – When using double sided sticky tape to mat and layer, always use a bit of glue stick over the top. This will give you a slight bit of movement when sticking down.

Tip 2 – With your die cutters, if you find your dies are not cutting properly, run the dies through your machine with a tumble dryer sheet.

Tip 3 – When visiting DIY stores, I always look at the wallpaper samples and think ‘oh that would go lovely on a card’. One can never have too many samples, right?!

We're so pleased to have Katie on the team, and to be able to share her creativity with everyone!
