Sara presents 'Be Creative' show

December 2014

A new craft show starring Sara Davies is set to get a prime-time national airing on mainstream TV in January.

Crafting expert Sara will be the presenter for the new show called ‘Be Creative’ that will air on Made Television in Tyne & Wear, Teesside & Yorkshire, Cardiff, Bristol and Leeds in the New Year.

In a huge boost to the craft industry, the deal is for an initial series covering six half hour programmes that will be shown for consecutive weeks from Thursday 8th January at 6pm.

The launch episodes will cater for beginner, intermediate and advanced levels and cover a variety of popular crafts including stamping, sewing, sugar craft, knitting, candle making and jewellery.

Some of the sector’s leading experts including Debbie Shore and Sheena Douglass will join Sara on Be Creative as a guest for each show.

The show was originally commissioned and intended for broadcast in Tyne & Wear only but demand from other regions for the programme has led to it being rolled out to additional areas across the UK that will see the show reach millions of homes.

Award-winning craft entrepreneur Sara, who founded Durham-based Crafter’s Companion, is no stranger to presenting as she regularly features on TV shopping channels across the world, demonstrating a range of craft tools and skills to crafting enthusiasts.
Tony Hazell, station manager for Made in Tyne and Wear, said: “We’re extremely excited about adding the ‘Be Creative’ show to our programme offering. Made TV is very much about promoting the people, businesses, experience and talent of the local area.

“Sara’s new show will showcase a wide range of crafting techniques, which we hope will inspire and entertain our viewers.”

Sara’s company Crafter’s Companion specialises in the manufacture and distribution of crafting tools along with its own brand goods. Its products are sold online via its website, via TV shopping channels across the world and through independent retail shops in the UK and Europe.

30-year-old Sara said: “I am absolutely delighted to have been chosen for this TV show as it gives me the opportunity to take crafting to millions of people that may never have considered crafting before, which can only be a good thing for our industry.

“Crafting covers so many areas and over the last few years, we have seen a real boom in the UK in terms of people adopting craft as a hobby. With this in mind, I think Be Creative has a great opportunity to reach new and existing crafters across the UK at just the right time.

“We have a stellar line-up of experts for the first six episodes so viewers will get great value in terms of education, inspiration and entertainment from the show. Ultimately, if it gets more people crafting, then I will be more than happy.”

Sara recently fought off stiff competition from six high flying creative professionals from across the UK to pick-up the Creative Industries Entrepreneur of the Year award at the prestigious Great British Entrepreneur Awards.

Wow, such wonderful news. Huge Congratulations to Sara and all who have been involved!!!

I really hope I will be able to watch where I am in Essex, I will be really disappointed if I can't because Sara is one of my favourite Crafters and although I've been crafting since I was a child (like most of us by knitting, cross stitch, sewing etc) it's because of Sara that I started crafting more seriously. I was watching Sara on C&C one day (doing one of her very early shows) and I decided to have a go at making cards. Sara is so talented and so inspirational that I would like to Thank her for every time she has inspired me and all the hints, tips and projects that she has inspired me to have had a go at.

    Well Done Sara!

    Happy Crafting!!! :) X X

I am also in Essex and also hope that it will all reach us eventually. Like Lynn I have always rated Sara as my favourite crafter. I had to smile when I saw Sara with the picture of the old Singer sewing machine. They were made in my home town in Scotland and my mother and some of my family worked in the factory. Needless to say every home had one and that's how I came into crafting at a very young age. I am sure your venture will be a fantastic success and we are all behind you 100%. Thank you for all you do to give such inspiration.
    Helen :) xx

I am also from Essex and hope that we will be able to see Sara, where I live comes under the television network of London so I would like to think that this will happen in this area. Sara is a very talented lady and a joy to watch on TV. I have many, many Crafter 's Companion products especially dies and embossing folders and await further products that are probably in the pipeline. Good Luck Sara and a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy and prosperous New Year to everyone at Crafter's Companion.

    Congratulations, brilliant news!
I am from Stafford in The Midlands and hope that I will be able to tune in. It is great that you have achieved so much and I have bought your products since you first brought out the wooden score board on Create and Craft then followed by your cd's and other tools. I use your tools and cd's in nearly all of my demonstrations in my shop and they are very successful. I hope to open my Trade Account with you again very soon.
Good Luck with the program and hope it is the start of many.

My mom was a tailoress and only a few years ago finally retired from doing alterations for friends. Mom is now 85. Mom always had a Singer treadle sewing machine and when we were children she always had 'something for us to make' on wet summer holiday days. Mom was the one who got me in to crafting, from sewing to card making and all sorts of crafts in between. I have alway loved watching Sara on TV and because I have always loved 'colouring in' I love to watch Sheena too. I'm in the Black Country so hope I can get the programme on TV too x

  • Rustic Pumpkin

It isn't showing up on any scheduling for Wales yet, and I have scoured the relevant copies of various television guides for information, so I'm hoping it will be aired here too. I will be deeply disappointed if we miss out here {again} and hope that these comments will be read and taken on board that there are fans of Sara, and many crafters who live off the beaten track and who are truly hungry for these programmes!
Huge congratulations and well done to Sara, who is a lovely lady and such an inspiration, and all her team for this and I look forward in great anticipation to seeing it in my region very soon!
