We're please to introduce Joan Cutts, our Member of the Month for November 2015!
I run a local craft group of about 14 ladies where I teach various techniques, we often work from the Crafter's Companion Inspiration magazine, using it as a “text”book.
I started crafting about 40 years mainly making decorated eggs, and founded the Egg Crafters Guild of Great Britain.
In 1979 we ended with about 2500 members worldwide, and have travelled to many countries around the world, such as Japan, Australia, Europe and USA to demonstrate Egg decoration and give talks.
I still give talks nowadays to local guilds about my Decorated Eggs. I was awarded the MBE in 2000 for services to Eggcraft.
I have been doing cards for about 25 years, and enjoy using my ebosser and the hundreds of dies I have acquired throughout that time, most types of cards appeal to me and I love a challenge of a new design. I also enjoy colouring with my Spectrum Noir pens and quilling.
Attending the Craftaganza in Durham was one of my yearly highlights, and introduced some friends who also enjoyed the fabulous weekends, it is great to learn and craft together, some of us go on holiday twice a year for a week at a time in Gilsland where we craft from after breakfast to late at night! Pure heaven!
Sometimes I give my made cards to a charity in York called the Diane Gee Memorial Fund, which raises funds for disabled children to provide expensive equipment which they need.
Thanks to everyone at Crafter's Companion for the work everyone does, and especially to Sara for starting it off in the first place.
