Tutorial of the Month: March 2016

finished 3

Design team member Marie Jones is here this month with a fantastic gift idea, just in time for Mother's Day! You could use this lovely basket for so many other things throughout the year as well... who will you make one for? Leave us a comment below and let us know!

Supplies:

Directions:

step 1

Step 1: Take a sheet of 12" x 12" card (note from CCHQ: try using our 16" x 16" card and cutting it down to size!) and score each side using the 8cm Box Lid line on the Big Score.

step 2

Step 2: Cut away the corners leaving a tab on each centre piece to glue the box together.

step 3

Step 3: Crease and burnish the score lines and use Tacky Glue on the tabs to make into a box.

step 4

Step 4: Cut four pieces of Sheena stamping card 15cm x 8cm. Mark a faint pencil line 5.5cm from the top edge at each short end of the pieces.

Use this to help ensure the die is placed level and in the same position on each piece. Tape the die in place and die-cut and emboss.

Rub out the pencil marks and trim the ends at the edge of the die cut piece.

step 5

Step 5: Score and fold 1cm from the edge on each piece. Use a Smoothie sponge to add Dusty Concord Distress ink to the edge of the die-cut and score line. Very lightly add a little colour to the rest of the die cut .

Attach to the sides of the box by gluing the 1cm tab to the inside of the box.

step 6

Step 6: To make the handle cut a strip of Sheena card 2cm x 28cm and ink the edges with Dusty Concord. Layer onto a 2.5cm strip of card and attach to the inside of the box.

step 7

Step 7: From a sheet of Butterfly Lullaby paper cut four pieces 14.5cm x 8cm and one piece 14.5cm square. Ink the edges with Dusty Concord and attach to the inside of the box.

step 8

Step 8: Cut four pieces of a different paper 14cm x 7.5cm, ink the edges and attach to the outside of the box. Cut four strips of Centura Pearl card 14cm x 2cm and wrap with ribbon. Attach to the sides of the box and tie on a piece of ribbon.

step 9

Step 9: Die-cut several flowers and leaf swirls from Sheena card. Colour the die-cuts with Distress inks, shape the petals and layer the flowers together. Add Silver Glass Glitter to the centre of the flowers with Tacky glue.

Step 10: Decorate the basket with the flowers and leaves.
