Please meet Susan, our member of the month for April 2016!
I'm lucky that my profession as a qualified part-time Conservator /Restorer for Museum allows me to use my crafting skills.
I have a few charities I make cards for, one being for a 101 year old Humber Sloop (sailing barge) called Amy Howson, it is run by the Humber Sloop and Keele Preservation Society.
I got roped in by my husband, the barge had been laid up for winter and had all her rigging off. Country File wanted to film her and they had less then a week to get her ready.
I helped out and found out about how they raised the money to keep her afloat. So I make cards and sell them on their stall at events. The only other way they can make money is raffles, sale of goods on the stall and to charge for sailing trips in summer up and down the Humber. Only a few of these old work horses are still around and take a lot of time and money to keep afloat.
If you would like to know more details these can be found on their web site about them and their trips.
