Tutorial: Destiny's Hot Air Balloon

DSCN9204

Today we have a fabulous tutorial for you from Sandie! She takes you through step by step how to create this fabulous hot air balloon project yourself!

Crafter's Companion UK Supplies:

Directions:

Step 1: Using the Crafter’s Companion Hot Air Balloon Template use two different papers from the Verity Rose A4 Paper Pad to make the balloon.

Top Tip: Place the strips for the balloon horizontally on the papers, draw around with a pencil and then join them at the top using another coordinating paper (this way the template can be used with any papers you print from your Crafter’s Companion CD-ROMs)

Step 2: Use Collal Tacky Glue to connect the strips using the tabs as this will give you a little time to line them up and provides a strong hold.

Make a fold in the paper strips rather than trim them to join them at the top. The fold gives a neater join and has the added benefit of making the join stronger.

Step 3: The basket should be made from a strong card and the Crafter’s Companion Textured Linen Card is perfect. Cut all of your left-over Verity Rose papers (the collection all coordinates so its perfect to collect strips) and cut 1cm wide strips.

Using Collal Tacky Glue adhere the strips to the basket, leaving roughly 1cm between each strip.
Top Tip: to keep the edges clean, attach the strips leaving a little hanging over and trim after they are stuck.

Step 4: Cover two of the baskets arms with the paper strips and wrap string to the other two (attach a red liner tape to the inside edge to grip the string.

Finally cover the basket in Collal Glue Varnish, or Tacky Glue to seal the papers and it makes the texture of the basket show through.

Attach the basket to the balloon following the instructions for the template.

Step 5: Stamp and die cut the ticket stamp from the Verity Rose Destiny Accessory Stamp Set and Coordinating Die set. Emboss if desired.

Step 6: To attach the tickets adhere craft wire to the top of the balloon and spiral it around and attach it again on the basket.

Use Collal 3D Glue Gel to adhere the tickets on the wire (curl a corner to make it easy to attach). I have attached red heart beads to the wire as an extra.

Step 7: Now stamp the Poppy stamp (Verity Rose Destiny Accessory Stamp Set) on Sheena Stamping Card. Die cut with the Coordinating Die. Colour using Spectrum Sparkle Pens – Solar Red, Berry Red, Smoked Quartz. Don’t worry about going over the lines because we are die cutting them.

Cut 6 Lace Doily’s using the Verity Rose Lace Doily Die and adhere one to the top of the balloon. With the other 5 fold each in half; glue one side to the next one and the next to create an accordion and then attach the ends to the Doily on top of the balloon.

Step 8: Finally add a strip of card or even scrunched up paper to the bottom of the basket to add filling and then cover the basket with the Poppy’s (adhere with Collal 3D Glue Gel so height can be added). Add extra’s from your stash such as cheesecloth and pearls to finish.
