Want to make something a bit different with your papercrafting supplies? Ginny has a fabulous tutorial for you to show you how you can create a patchwork cover with stamps and AquaBlend pencils for your altered art projects! (please note: Ginny has used some stamps only available in the US, but we’ve shared some suggestions for replacements in the supply list below!).
Crafter's Companion Supplies:
Other Supplies: Memento Ink Black, Spiral Notebook, Double Sided Adhesive Tape, Water Paint Brush
Step 1: Cut a variety of sizes of Spectrum Noir Ultra Smooth White Cardstock.
Step 2: Stamp each square with images using archival black ink. Mix up pictures and scripts and graphics for a nice variety of blocks.
Step 3: Colour images and borders of the blocks with Spectrum Noir AquaBlend Water Colour Pencils. Blend colours using a water brush. Allow to dry completely.
For added interest leave a few of the blocks uncoloured.
Step 4: Ink all edges heavily with archival ink.
Step 5: Use a store bought spiral notebook as the base for the patchwork.
Tip: Getting a regular standard size will make decorating the cover more practical as you can simply trim off the cover when the notebook is filled and attach it to a fresh new notebook.
Step 6: Arrange blocks on the notebook cover until you arrive at a good composition of images and text with edges overlapping.
Allow one larger block to be the focal image and plan for it to be placed on the top. Once you like the design…adhere to the cover using double sided adhesive tape. If desired….spray finished notebook with spray fixative to protect the surface.
