Tutorial of the Month: June 2016

Happy June Crafters!

With Father's Day just around the corner, June's tutorial of the Month from the lovely Angela Blaney showcases some fantastic crafting for men dies, as well as bold, masculine colours in order to create memorable and original cards this Father's Day!

Crafter's Companion Supplies:

Directions:

1) Paint watercolour card strips with 3 different colours; I used - 07 (blue) 11 (orange) and mix of 26 and 02 in a ratio of 5:2 (green)

Use the tea dye distress ink to colour the sheets of kraft card all over then ink the embossing folder with walnut stain distress ink then emboss with the tea dyed side of the card facing the inked side of the embossing folder. Paint over with Mod Podge Gloss then leave to dry.

2) Use the largest pennant die from the diamond press starter kit to cut the painted watercolour card, slide the die up and cut again to form chevron shapes in varying sizes (photograph 6) cut hexagons 1 x largest and 2 x medium from kraft card then colour and texture as in previous step. Cut 2 x “happy” and “father’s day” from matte black card. Use the gilding wax to colour one set of words then glue over the plain black set to form a drop shadow effect and glue on to the hexagons using tacky glue.

3) Score the first piece of matte black card at 8” and use tacky glue the second piece inside the fold to form a square tent fold card base. Fix the woodgrain kraft card panels on to the front and inside using tacky glue. Glue the chevrons in pattern on the front with tacky glue and the hexagons with 3D glue gel to finish....

....and there you have it! A bright and bolt Father's Day card!
