What a Week....

As a lot of you know (I still can't quite believe it!!) I was appointed an MBE in the Queen’s 2016 Birthday Honours List this week. I am absolutely thrilled to bits and feel incredibly humbled by the appointment. It was such a shock and I have been living on cloud 9 since the announcement was made!!

What has made this even more special, is the hundreds and hundreds of lovely comments I have received from everyone on Facebook, Twitter, Linked in and via email. I am incredibly touched by the overwhelming support and I would just like to say thank you as it really does mean the world to me!!

We took my family and closet friends out for dinner on Friday evening to announce the big news. My Mam and Dad just cried and cried at the table, it was so emotional probably one of the best moments of my life! Here is a picture of us at dinner....

There has been some lovely press regarding the announcement, so thought you might want to take a look......

Sarah it is no wonder your parents cried they must be so proud of you and your achievements. We met at Mountain Ash a few weeks ago and you gave me some advice on how to go forward with an idea I have. Not many will do that as I have found sadly. The TV does not do you justice (the other one), you were friendly, warm and welcoming and gave time to everyone there. I am very pleased to have met you ( your flagship is a little too far to go shopping) but who knows. Less waffle, Many many congratulations Sara your hard work is appreciated by many crafters and you deserve the recognition. well done

Hi Sara. I congratulate you on your award, but not too sure what it is for! You are a business woman, and a successful one at that. Surely this doesn't merit an honour from the queen. I have known many business women who were successful in their careers. The only difference being you and your company get plenty of air time whereas the other successful women are 'doing it' behind the scenes. However your honour is deserved and I am pleased for you. Can I ask you why you moved over to Hochanda? I can only assume it was for business reasons. An explanation to all of your customers would be appreciate. Good luck in your future adventures.

    Sara,

What can I say that has not already been said!
I also purchased your first board (and probably too many of your other products since!!!) and have watched and applauded your hard work and tenatiousness now I applaude your award.
Many, many congratulations to you, your family (and all that work with you!) - you are an inspiration to all those with an idea. Your MBE is very well deserved, you have not let the 'big boys' in the crafting world intimidate you - and now you are a 'big girl' in the crafting world yourself. I hope you go from strength to strength and continue to enjoy what you do and remain happy and healthy!! xx

    Hi Sara

Many, many congratulations. I remember the very first shows on TV too and the progress Crafter's Companion has made has been amazing. You are a shining example to any young woman who wants to start a business of their own. Your MBE is thoroughly deserved.

We're so lucky in the UK where the craft industry has grown so much in the last decade and women are at the forefront of so many of the businesses and designs, be it papercraft, jewellery or needlecrafts. It's something to be truly proud of I think.

Congratulations again Sara and congratulations to everyone involved at Crafter's Companion.

Sara I am delighted. You and your team have worked so hard over the years to bring the crafting world such wonderful products. I started my craft shop the same year as Crafter's Companion started and your products were some of the first I bought in to it. Unfortunately, due to many things, I closed my craft shop at Christmas 2007, I still miss it but I'm still crafting. Good luck for everything in the future and again well done for your MBE. xx
