Tutorial: Double Card Accordion Fold

Get your Distress inks out and have some fun with this tutorial from Lisa Nowacki! She shows you how to create these fabulous backgrounds by blending colours together and then stamping images over it in black! You could use this technique with any stamps and any colours to create so many different types of projects! It's all about having fun with your inks!

Step 1: Starting with a piece of white card, cut to 14” x 5”, score at 3.5” and 7”, and fold as shown

Step 2: Cut 1 piece of white card measuring approx 6.75” x 4.7”

Cut 2 pieces of white card measuring approx 3.2” x 4.7”

Cut 2 pieces of white card measuring approx 5.3” x 3.75”

Step 3: On a craft mat, using the blending tool, cover the white pieces of card with Distress inks.

TOP TIP: It's easiest to start with the lightest shade and then add darker inks. Start with Squeezed Lemonade, then add Twisted Citron, and then Blueprint Sketch.  Finish with a final blend of Squeezed Lemonade if necessary.

Step 4: Using stamps from the Sheena A Little Bit Sketchy ‘Shout’, ‘Beat It’ and ‘Grunge Band’ sets, stamp as shown, using Archival Ink and Distress Ink in Twisted Citron.

Step 5: Ink around the edges of each piece using the blending tool and Distress Ink in Black Soot.

Step 6: Cut a piece of black card measuring 4” x 11”, score at 5.5” and add the drum stamped piece to one side as shown.  Mat the other panels onto black card.

Step 7: Mat the other stamped image onto the other side of the black panel as shown.

Step 8: Fix all pieces to the folded card base as shown.  Add a die cut corner if required.

Step 9: Wrap black twine around the card and tie a bow or knot.  You don’t need to glue the twine into place, as you will want to slide it off to open the card.
