Do you love to scrapbook? If you have never tried it then we encourage you to have a go with this fabulous tutorial from Jen Fisher! Her layout here was designed to capture the warmth of a Summers day trip to a country park or sunny beach in this happy holiday scrapbook layout! The glow of the flowers and the background are designed to capture the colours of a Summer sunset! Scrapbooks are always fun to look back on in years to come, why not have a go and have fun making some layouts!
Step 1: On dry card, with a wet, flat brush, use colours 11, 12 and 34 from the Spectrum Noir Aquatints Perfectly Primary set to create a warm sunset effect background in the centre of a piece of 12″ x 12″ smooth card (about 250gsm). Blend any harsh colour lines with a flat brush using fresh water.
Step 2: Make a custom colour sparkle spritzer using Aquatint 12 from the Perfectly Primary set and the Gold from the Aquatint Essentials Set. Mix one pipette of Aquatint 12 and one pipette of Aquatint Gold in an empty spritz bottle, topping the bottle up with fresh water. Spritz the page with the coordinating spritz.
Step 3: Make a custom Gold spritzer from the Aquatint Gold only as described in step 3. Spritz the page with the gold spritz. Dab the spritzed page with a little kitchen roll to begin to create a false bleach effect in the centre of the background.
Step 4: Splash fresh water over the coloured background. Then dab the larger spots of fresh water with kitchen roll to take some of the colour out of the background and create a more defined false bleach effect.
Step 5: Stamp four corners onto the page using Aquatint 12 to create a space for the photograph. Stamp flowers from the Floral Fiesta stamp set on the background with the Gold Aquatint from the Essentials set and also with Aquatint 12 from the Perfectly Primary set.
Step 6: Stamp an appropriate sentiment from the Crafter’s Companion Die’sire Sentimentals Rubber Stamp set –Love Is All You Need in black using a non watercolour stamp pad so that the black ink does not run into the watercolour effects created.
Now lets create some bespoke coordinating embellishments using this layered stamping technique with Crafter’s Companion Spectrum Noir Aquatints and Sheena Douglass Day of the Dead Perfect Partners stamps and dies. The shaped flowers can also be used to accent cards, boxes and scrapbook layouts. The sky is the limit!
Step 2: Blend the stamped floral image with a wet brush from the Aquatint set. Use fresh water.
Step 3: Stamp over the image again using the Gold Aquatint from the Essentials set to begin to add definition to the image.
Step 4: Stamp over the image again with the Black Aquatint included in the Essentials set. This adds extra definition. Spritz with Aquatint gold by adding a pipette of Gold to an empty spritz bottle and topping up with water. The spritz step is not essential to the layered stamping technique: it just adds a lovely, subtle sparkle to the finished flower.
Step 5: Die cut the flower with the Floral Fiesta die set. Run the die and die cut through the machine again to emboss. Shape the petals by hand to add depth to the flower embellishment.
