Inspirational Tutorial: New baby shaker card

Shaker cards are such fun to make and so easy too! Designer Ann-Marie shows you just how easy they are to make in her tutorial below! Just change the colour from blue to pink for a new baby girl and of course you could make it in neutral colours if your making cards without knowing beforehand if the baby is a boy or girl!

Directions:

Step 1 To start you will need a 6 x 6 card base. Trim a sheet of ‘Fresh Blue’ Centura Pearl cardstock to measure 14.5 cm x 14.5 cm. Attach to card base. Trim a co-ordinating sheet of patterned paper to measure 13.5 cm x 13.5 cm and attach to card base.

Step 2 Trim white cardstock to 14 cm x 14 cm. Position the three ‘Drifting Clouds’ dies where you want the apertures to be and run through your die cutting machine.

Step 3 Trim a piece of acetate to measure roughly 13.5 cm x 13.5 cm. Just make sure when it’s placed on the white cardstock that it covers all the apertures completely. If you have an anti-static pad it’s a good tip to wipe over the acetate a couple of times with it. This will help stop your shaker pieces from sticking too much to the acetate when the card is completely assembled.

Step 4 Once you’ve attached the acetate to your white card use either foam pads or foam tape and trace around the outside of the apertures making sure to leave no gaps. Also place foam pads or tape around the edge of the white card.

Step 5 Fill your apertures with your chosen shaker pieces.

Step 7 Use the ‘Baby Accessories’ metal dies and from a mix of patterned paper and pearl card cut some little baby shapes. Trim some blue twine and attach this along with the die cut shapes under the apertures to resemble baby mobiles.
