Your June Scrapbook of the Month

When I Was One, I had Just Begun

Life:  scrapbooks are full of life. Weddings, birthdays,  celebrations and happy holidays with splashes of sun and skies of sea. Most people who keep an album would say they are documenting the little details and the huge events. There is one event which prompts most people to keep a box of memories and a folder of smiles and that is the arrival of a little bundle of joy. Or maybe two. New families are really pressed for time. We all intend to record that first step, first tooth, first smile. Yet between the feeds and the nappies and the sleepless nights, finding an opportunity to create that precious baby album can be really difficult. So this month's Scrapbook Kit from Crafter's Companion is going to help you create a fabulous keepsake which will be easy to keep up to date, leaving you to enjoy the baby burbles and cute cuddles.

The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face

Sometimes, a little bit of planning helps. You know that this baby (or even babies!) is going to arrive. You know when (give or take a day or two!) this baby will enter your home. You know (one way or another) your baby is going to have certain things and reach certain milestones. And Sara Davies knows these things too! As a mother of two gorgeous boys herself, Sara has designed her Little Angel Signature Collection with all these important events in mind. Start your album with the 12x12 or 6x6 paper pad. The pastel tones will coordinate with your baby photographs and the subtle designs will match the important events in your little one's life. For arrival day, there is the stork design. For new nursery, there is the lemon baby items doodle paper. For first feet, there is the sweet baby shoe paper. As you flick through the paper pad, you will start to see that the hard work has been done for you and the designs will help you put together the story of your baby's early days.

Always Be My Baby

Once you have chosen papers to match the little details which you know are going to feature in these first few days and months, then you can think about how to make your pages look really pretty. The Baby Accessories Die Set has ten tiny dies which coordinate with the paper pads and reflect the details of life with a baby. Spend a little time die cutting lots and lots of these elements so that you have a host of embellishments ready to decorate your pages. If you use Centura Pearl cardstock, you know that the tiny elements will be strong enough to withstand the frequent page turning which your album is going to experience! The Diamond Press is a great little tool for on-the-go die cutting when you are pushed for time. Once you have cut out lots of tiny elements, the scallop frame and circle, which make up part of the Beautiful Baby die set, will provide a nice background for you to create some embellishment clusters, to accent your photographs.

Rock A Bye Baby

Make sure that you have a way of printing out your photographs quickly and easily so that you have them ready to scrapbook as soon as you have a little bit of time. There are Apps that you can pop onto your phone which mean you can print out monthly or weekly photograph sets. A small personal printer which links straight to your phone or camera is also a great option for lab quality prints. Make sure that you have an archival safe adhesive like Collall Photo Glue to ensure that  your photographs are preserved for future generations. Run a few pieces of Little Angel paper or Centura Pearl card and the Dotty Cloud Embossing Folder through your Gemini so that you have some photo mats ready when you find time to scrap. When baby nods off, grab yourself five minutes and start to put the pages together. With a little bit of preparation, you can still keep your precious baby album up to date and create a keepsake for the future.

This month's scrapbook video shows you how to create elements which you can use on a scrapbook page of any size from 12x12 to 6x6 to A4. Whether you like to pocket scrap or make mini books, this month's video will give you lots of inspiration.
