I can't believe my mum's 50!!! (And Stepper Card Tutorial)

She's going to absolutely kill me for entitling the post with that, but it's true!!!
It's her birthday today (19th September) and I made the card last week, but it seemed wrong to share it with you early, because then she would see it on the internet before I gave her chance to open it!!!
Here's the card i've made for her... classy and understated I thought... (I didn't think she would appreciate a massive 5 and 0 on a in big glittery card!!!)
I made the base card from Centura Pearl Cardstock and followed a basic stepper card tutorial. On our Advanced Construction Techniques DVD there's the basic stepper card tutorial using the Boxer Board, and then for a side stepper I recorded some bonus footage, so here's the tutorial for how to do this...
You can alter how wide you want the upstand section to be depending on where you score the vertical line.
Then for the decoration, I used the Strawberry's Kisses Party Girl Stamp, and I just added a feint bit of colour with the Spectrum Noir pens, and mounted this onto the printed paper which is from the SWALK CD ROM Volume 2.
I used our new Die'sire Dies for the die-cutting - the lace border is number 1, and the sentiment is from the tag set.
Then I created a box for it (again using the Centura Pearl). Now it's really important when you are creating a box to always use a wet glue to stick the edges - Leann's 'Best Glue in the World' (aka Collall All Purpose Glue) I find works an absolute treat! It's wet but doesn't warp the paper, and it dries relatively quickly. I didn't have any of my new purple paperclips to hand so I used some old ones fromt he drawer!!!
And the finished box I decorated a little on the front too with a few flowers.
As it's my mum's special birthday I thought i'd share a few pictures with you from the last year..
Here's mum and 'her girls' (aka me and our Helen) - this was taken just a few weeks ago when I had a summer BBQ...
And just a few weeks before that we went out shopping with my Nana (that's my mam's mam on the right here) in Newcastle
Now my mam's always supporting me with work, and when I even did a demo day in a Garden centre she travelled down to see me (and I can tell you she was quite the celebrity there - she was certainely in demand with the other crafters visiting that day wanting to chat!!)
I've also been teaching her all sorts of crafting - from card making to beading, and even Paint Fusion!!! I definitely get my crafty-streak from my mum - she was big into Sugarcraft when I was younger, and used to do all sorts with Helen and I as kids, so it's nice for me to be able to teach her things now us kids are all grown up!

Ad a couple more family pictures... here we are on Christmas Day at my house, with my Nana and Kamala...
And then my Mam and Dad with Helen on her Graduation last year - looking proud as punch!!!
So I hope you can all join me in wiching her a super duper big birthday!!! I'm hoping as you're reading this she'll have opened her card and loved it!!! Fingers Crossed!
Big Hugs, Sara xxx
