Tutorial: Shaped Cards from a CD-ROM

Crafter’s Companion US has a CD-ROM Specialist on their team, and she came up with this great tutorial to share!

We thought you would enjoy this tutorial too! Read on to see what Stephanie shared:

I had a question asked about how to fold the cards included in the Shaped Card Section of the Crafter’s Companion CD-ROMs, so I thought I would show you how I do it.

This is one of the cards printed from The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady CD-ROM.

The next step is to detail-cut the card. It measures just under 9 3/4″ wide. I decided to score my card back and just over 4 3/4″ which allows my circle to overlap slightly when I fold it. The printed designer paper now becomes the back of your card.

Here’s what the card looks like when it is folded.

I decided I wanted a bit more contrast between my image and the inside of the card, so I tried several scraps of cardstock for the inside. This one pulls out the teal blue in the leaves.

While this one pulls out the yellows in the design.

I decided to go with the blue for a bit richer contrast. I also decided to trim off the little violet circle and mat it on coordinating purple cardstock for a bit more contrast (because I always try to find ways to make a card design my own).

I finished with the Mother’s Day sentiment from Sentimentals Friends and Family. The final embellishment was a row of small pearls along the bottom.
