We’re please to share with you our Member of the Month for February 2015, Angela Gilbertson!
“I started making cards ten years ago while going through treatment for breast cancer, and finding it very hard to sleep. Also having a lot of time on my hands from not being at work, I was a security manager for a large store in Carlisle.
My late sister decide they were good and as she helped many charities I started selling them to friends and family to raise money. I have always been a crafty person cross stitch, knitting ect but having a sore arm from the operation I found making cards easier.
I decided to raise the money for the NSPCC as they do great work in helping children in all sorts of ways.
MY local branch of the NSPCC hold a Christmas fair in November so to get ready to sell my Christmas cards here I start making them in April.
My daughter also sells my cards to her work colleagues all year and I do commissions for people throughout the year who want special cards.
I love making them, people love buying them, people love to receive them, and the NSPCC benefits from the money. So that is why I find it so rewarding.”
