We’re pleased to introduce our Member of the Month, Helen Parnham!
“Hello my name is Helen and I started crafting eight years ago. I made my first decoupage card for my friend’s 40th Birthday as she always makes her friends a card but never had one returned! I went off to the local craft shop and explained that I was a newbie and asked for a simple decoupage image.
As my friend is a dog lover the task was easy I did her a golden Labrador and she loved it… and I was hooked.
Then we lost one of our family to cancer, aged just 20, a young man at the prime of his life. My cousin was in to making cards so I asked if I could help with raising funds for cancer research. I’m not sure how much I have donated in the past but as they say every little helps.
I like to do decoupage but I have dabbled into dies and stamping but decoupage is my favourite and have made some note books, notelets, gift boxes that are sold at cancer research events and to family and friends. I have also done wedding invites, order of service etc.
As well as craft events for cancer research, I also takes part in the Relay for Life 24-hour relay event, which is 24 hours of walking as part of a team – there has to be at least 2 members of the team walking at any given time. I take part in the Nottingham event, and it runs in June or July each year.”
