We’re pleased to introduce our first Members of the Month for 2016, Jan Taylor and Sue Redfearn!
“I have been crafting for many years, mainly sewing and knitting for my children and me. But about 10 years ago I met Sue at the Art Group I run in our local village. We had so many common interests and we became firm friends. Sue also had been crafting for many years but we both fancied a new challenge so decided to start card making. It quickly took over our lives and our spare bedrooms!
We had both acquired so much craft stash (as you do) we thought we could possibly make some money for charity by selling our cards, so six years ago we held our first coffee morning and card sale. It was so successful it has now become a yearly event and grown into selling not only cards but also handmade gifts by us. It is quite a family affair with Sue’s husband making the drinks and my daughters and granddaughters making and selling cakes.
We have over the six years raised money for CAFOD, Ovarian Cancer, Alzheimer’s, Arthritis UK, Diabetes UK, The Brittle Bone Society, Headway and Cancer Research UK. The total to date for all these charities is approx. £3500.
We have both gained so much pleasure making the cards and gifts and it is so rewarding to raise funds for charities doing something we both enjoy.
Thank you for inviting us to be Members of the Month and of course our card making would not be possible without all the lovely goodies on offer from Crafter’s Companion.”
