The lovely Pauline Orr has been chosen as July’s Tutorial of the Month. She has used so many fabulous elements and shows you how to get hands on with your gilding wax and Spectrum Noir aquablends. Plus..she used a lovely, imaginative way to use your Die’sire lantern dies!
Crafter’s Companion products used:
Embossing folder from Sheena Douglass oriental collection
Make card blank from hammered white card. Cut and prepare card layer mats..
Cut out the lantern embellishments in Teal and draw around the dies on mat black card to get a base to attach them too.. I coloured the mat black with empire gold pebeo gilding wax.
Next on 5 1/4 x 3 3/4 mat black card layer slap on some gesso (not perfect and not to the edge) when it’s dry.. Edge with gilding wax ..
Put it in the embossing folder, I used the debossed side (you can use either depends on preference .. Or pot luck lol.. both ways work.. The embossed side could be sanded back or enhanced with dragging lightly a black ink pad across it to highlight) ..I went over my gesso with more gilding wax after I debossed it.. I distressed the edges with a distressing tool.
I stamped out my magnolia image on water colour card and coloured with spectrum noir pencils, I cut it out and attached it with 3D glue gel along with the lanterns..
Here is the finished card assembled with a sentiment from Sara Davies and some twine..
Have fun with gesso and the different effects you can get with the opposite sides of embossing folders..
Thank you so much Pauline! x
