Create a fun card full of Christmas sparkle and detail and folds flat for postage! Follow Laine’s fun and festive tutorial showing you how to create a Sara Davies Contemporary Christmas Collection diorama card. You could make this card with different papers and die cuts and create many different occasion cards too!
Cut 3 pieces of card 2 x 10.5cm by 21cm and 1 x 10.5cm by 16cm.
Score at 5cm on each end of the longer pieces. Score at 2.5cm on each end of shorter piece. Re-enforce sharp fold scores with a bone folder to achieve a crisp edge.
Cut an aperture of your choice in the centre panel of one the longer pieces and the shorter piece. This forms the viewing aperture for your diorama card.
Cut Contemporary Christmas papers to fit diorama panels, including die cut aperture. Attach to panels of card as shown.
Cut frames for panels using 2 concentric dies. Attach to panel over the apertures. Cut panel to fit of Snowfall acetate and attach this to the reverse of the panels. Add side designer paper side panels to the front panel of card.
Create a background for your diorama box. Here Distress Ink is applied to the Flourishing Flakes embossing folder and a piece of Sheena Stamping Card is coloured and embossed. Stamped and embossed snowflake detail was added to the background.
Cut out the borders from the Scenic Borders set, leaving a small border on the house design and a slightly larger border on the tree design, to fit behind the internal panel aperture. Apply ‘snow’ effect to both borders if required. Leave a minimal border on the Santa border die cut and apply glitter detail as shown.
Attach the tree die cut to the inner surface of the diorama insert panel, to show within the aperture. Attach the Santa die cut to the snowflake embossed background, to fly above the tree level. The side panels of the back of the box should be scored and folded facing upwards. The side panels for the middle section should be scored and folded downwards. Secure the middle panel to the back panel of the diorama box.
Apply the house border to the front panel of the diorama card. Fold down the sides of the panel of the card front and slide over the base and middle panels. Secure in place with tacky glue and your diorama card is complete.
For this project the diorama panel has been attached to a larger card and decorated. Here an 18cm card base has been made from Centura Pearl card with mirror card mat and designer paper layer. Further decoration has been added with one of the Scenic Borders dies glittered and the Snowflakes of Joy. A festive sentiment and metal charm was added. This card can be folded flat for postage.
