Can you believe we’ve reached the month of love already? Bye bye January..Hello February & hello to the tutorial of the month! Sam has created such a gorgeous Aquatint inspired card!!
Crafter’s Companion products used:
Steps to create:
One: Tape an A5 piece of watercolour card to a clipboard or other firm but portable surface. Prepare your Aquatints by transferring a small amount to the included palette using the pipette provided.
Two: Using a large soft brush, thoroughly wet all of the card with clean water.
Three: Starting at the top of the card panel, cover a third of the panel with colour # 53
Four: Whilst still wet, add colour # 27 overlapping the first colour.
Five: Finally add colour # 43 to the bottom part of the panel, again overlapping with the colour above.
Six: Use gravity to blend the colours further by tipping the clipboard on it’s side. Once happy with the result blot off the excess ink.
Seven: Dry with a heat tool. At this point you can continue to step 7, or repeat steps 3 to 6 in order to add another layer of the same colours. When finished, dry with a heat tool before continuing.
Eight: Splash water onto the card panel and dry with a heat tool.
Nine: Add further layers to your backgrounds by using inks and texture pastes through a stencil. You can also splash paint or undiluted Aquatint Ink onto your background! The possibilities are endless.
Ten: Turn your background into a card by mounting onto a card blank.
Eleven: Die cut butterflies from a panel of card measuring 7¾” x 7¾” then mounting on your card front with foam tape.
Twelve: Add pen doodles, stamping and sequins to finish the card.
Please share your creations with us! We’d love to see them!
