Add a touch of woodland beauty to the home as Rossella Brotherton-Cottrell shows you just how easy it is to create this stylish cushion using the new Woodland stencils and masks from Threaders.
YOU WILL NEED
Threaders Woodland Stencil and Mask – Deer
Violet, Canary & Blue Threaders Fabric Inkpads
Grey Threaders Embroidery Thread
Backing fabric of your choice
Stick & Spray mounting adhesive
Spray Stick & Spray on to the inner solid deer mask and attach to the calico fabric. Brush the ink over the calico to create a soft background and leave a deer-shape free of ink in the centre.
Use Stick & Spray to position the outer stencil around the deer mask from Step 1, then replace the solid deer mask with the decorative inner stencil. Brush ink over the stencil; Rossella used Canary as a base, then Blue and Violet.
Remove the stencils from the calico and iron on the reverse to heat-set the fabric ink.
Using two strands of grey embroidery thread, chain stitch around the outline of the deer to add a little interest and extra texture.
Stitch the calico to the backing fabric, fraying the lower edge, to create the front panel of your cushion cover.
Use the rest of the backing fabric along with the front panel to create a simple envelope-style cushion case. Insert your cushion inside to complete the project!
