Countdown to Christmas with A Winter's Tale

With cosy open fires, twinkling Christmas trees and traditional Christmas village scenes, Sara’s new A Winter’s Tale collection will evoke special memories of the magic of Christmastime. This beautiful papercraft collection contains lots of different elements including metal dies, embossing folders, stamps and paper pads, all designed to co-ordinate perfectly with each other, enabling you to create extra-special cards, scrapbook layouts and many other seasonal makes.Count-down to this special time of year with this wonderful calendar from Janine.

You will need

To make the base:

Step 1

Cut a piece of black card to 5¼” x 11”, and place the 11” side at the top of the scoreboard and score at ½", 3", 3½" and 6”.

Step 2

Stamp and heat emboss with silver embossing powder a sentiment from the ‘Joy To The World’ stamp set between the 3” and 3½" mark. Crease all the score lines. Add glue to the ½" section, then fold the flap backwards and attach it to the long back panel (it looks like an open box).

Step 3

Decorate the back panel – trim and adhere a piece of patterned paper 3¼” x 5¼” to the bottom section of the panel. Die cut the Santa’s Sleigh from silver glitter card and glue it above it. Add a few gems around the sleigh and sentiment.

To make the base sides:

Step 1

Trim a piece of black card to 5” x 10¼”. Place the (A) side at the top of your scoreboard, and score at 2½” and 7¾”. Turn the card to the (B) side and score at ½”. Crease all the score lines, and snip into the card at the bottom at the 2½” and 7¾” mark (see diagram). Cut a diagonal line from the top down to the ½” line. Attach red liner tape to the bottom flaps and wrap the panels around the base.

To make the boxes (x 2):

Step 1

Place side A of a piece of black at the top of your scoreboard and score at ½", 3", 5½", and 8". Then turn the paper so that the side B is at the top of the scoreboard and score at ½", 3", 5½", 8 and 10½". Please Note - An A4 sheet will make the right-hand side flap slightly thinner than the left.

Step 2

Lightly draw a line from the top to the bottom of the card at 2½” and at 6”. This will create the box flaps.

Step 3

Carefully cut out the box template by cutting away the greyed out areas.

Tip – To help scribble over all the areas you are planning to cut out with a pencil.

Step 4

Repeat steps 1-3 to create another box. Crease the score lines on both boxes before decorating and assembling.

Step 5

To decorate - cut 12 mats 2¼" x 2¼" from two complementary papers in the ‘A Winter’s Tale’ paper pad, and edge with distressing ink. Die-cut numbers in silver glitter card and stick them to the blocks. The first block has numbers 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and the second block has numbers 0, 1, 2, 6, 7, 8 (6 will also act as a 9). Next, add tacky glue to the inside of the flaps, and assemble.

Step 6
