Watercolouring with Spectrum Noir AquaTint pens

Crafter's Companion – 16/04/19

Spectrum Noir is a brand that is loved by both beginner and professional artists for its huge array of colouring mediums, but have you discovered all the effects that you can achieve with their pens yet?

In this project, we’re going to show you how to create watercolour art by using the Spectrum Noir AquaTint. As the name may suggest, the AquaTint pens are filled with water soluable, dye-based inks, so even beginners won’t find them too difficult to manipulate, making this project ideal for beginners and experts!

You will need:

  • Spectrum Noir AquaTint pens
  • Cardstock
  • Stamps and sentiments of your choice
  • Spray or spritz bottle with clean water
  • Paintbrush (or waterbrush)

Step 1

Scribble your chosen AquaTint pen colours directly over the stamp.

Step 2

Stamp on to dry cardstock.

Step 3

Using a damp brush, pull the colour out.

Step 4

Place a piece of scrap cardstock down on the table, turn the cardstock away from you and spritz the bottom of the image so that the colour runs.

Step 5

Allow to dry thoroughly and you’ll be left with a beautiful piece of art.

If you’ve got the Spectrum Noir AquaTint pens in your stash, get them out and give this technique a go! This project is perfect for creating your own cards, scrapbook page artwork or even home decor!
