Watch Along Wednesday – Christmas Create-a-Card easel card

Crafter's Companion – 18/12/19

Welcome back to another weekly post in our Watch Along Wednesday series! It’s a week today until the big day and then we’ll be putting our Christmas content to bed for another year, so if you’ve still got the Christmas bug, let’s celebrate this final week together. Take a look at this post to see David Falcon’s quick tutorial on creating this Christmas Create-a-Card Die easel card!

This is the perfect post if you’ve been looking to up your cardmaking card. While it’s simple enough to create a basic card base, why not kick it up a notch with an easel card? Your recipient will be able to prop it open for all to see on the mantelpiece!

If you’d like to try and recreate this beautifully paneled masterpiece, hit play on the video below.

Our Create-a-Card Dies are so perfect for cardmaking. Each one is designed like an A6 panel, so you can use them for creating full pieces for the front of your cards or for cutting into smaller pieces for decoupage or layered effects. They can also be rolled through a die-cutting machine with an embossing mat to produce raised elements for even more texture.

Dies are the perfect tools for adding precisely cut and detailed shapes to your papercraft projects. All you need is a die-cutting machine, a die and your chosen card or paperstock. Simply place the die with the blade side facing upwards on to your cutting plate. Add your chosen paper on top, then sandwich the whole thing with another cutting plate. Slowly roll this through your die-cutting machine and you’ll be left with a crisp cut every time.

In this tutorial, David uses the Christmas Greetings Die, which features tons of festive words and phrases, like ‘Let It Snow’ and ‘Ho ho ho’, so it’s perfect for more of a modern feel to your cards. However, there are plenty of other designs to choose from to help you add a little touch of Christmas magic, such as the Ornamental Baubles or the Decadent Snowflakes.
