Valentine’s Day is only a week away, and if you’re running out of ideas for cardmaking this year, we have you covered! From love hearts to stars, circles and more, you can create stamps of all shapes and sizes with the help of just one everyday household item! Follow along with Sara Davies below to create your own!

You will need:

4 empty toilet roll tubes
A spritz bottle with water
Shimmer Ink Pad - We’ve used the shade Toffee Apple

Creating your stamp

Take an empty toilet roll tube and shape it into your chosen design. Sara’s chosen a heart shape for her card! If creating a heart, we’d recommend making the bottom point first, then push the opposite side in to create the top of your heart.

Grab your ink pad and your craft mat. Dab your ink pad onto the mat 3-4 times, leaving a generous amount of ink on your mat.

Spitz the ink a couple of times with water, and use your paintbrush to loosen it up. Take care spraying the ink, as you don’t want your ink to be too watered down.

Take your toilet roll tube and stamp it into the ink, making sure it’s completely covered, and stamp it straight onto your paper.

Grab your paintbrush and drag the colour from the edges of the hearts inwards, ensuring you fill the shape with colour. If you want to add more colour, simply brush more ink onto your heart.

Using your paintbrush again, gently flick the bristles over the page leaving splashes of colour.

Once your stamped shapes have dried, draw around them with your fine liner, making them stand out. (Optional: add a piece of string to the bottom of each heart to make it look like a balloon!)

Glue the stamped image onto the front of a card blank and voila! You now have a beautifully stamped card made from just a few items.
