If you’re looking for a creative way to package small gifts or party favours, this DIY shaped gift box is the perfect papercraft project. With just a few tools, some pretty patterned paper, and a ribbon, you can create a stunning handmade box that’s as special as the gift inside.

Whether you’re crafting for birthdays, weddings, baby showers, or Christmas, this project is simple, fun, and a wonderful way to add a personal touch.

What You’ll Need:

  • 8” Circle Nesting Die

  • Patterned paper (your choice of design)

  • Pencil & ruler

  • Scissors

  • Adhesive (glue or double-sided tape)

  • Hole punch or pokey tool

  • Ribbon for tying

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Cut Your Base Shape

Start by cutting a perfect circle from your patterned paper using the 8” die from your Circle Nesting Die set.

Step 2: Fold the Circle

Fold the circle in half, then in half again, and repeat one more time. You should now have a neatly folded wedge shape.

Step 3: Mark Your Measurements

With the folded circle in front of you (point at the bottom), make a pencil mark 2” down from the top centre.

Next, measure 1 ½” down from the top along each side edge and mark with a pencil.

Step 4: Create Your Petals

Using the circle die as a guide, draw a curve from the top pencil mark down to the side mark. Repeat for the other side.

Cut along these lines and then unfold your paper to reveal an 8-petalled flower shape.

Step 5: Form the Box

Trim away two of the petals, leaving six. Fold over the tops of each remaining petal, burnishing the folds for a crisp finish.

Next, trim the top of one end petal and apply adhesive to the lower part. Stick this tab to the opposite end petal to form your box shape.

Step 6: Add the Finishing Touch

Punch small holes in the top of each petal. Thread ribbon through the holes, gently folding the petals inward.

Tie the ribbon into a bow, and your beautiful handmade shaped box is complete! 🎀
