What you’ll need:
-
Square card or paper - we've used a 12" x 12" paper pad
Step-by-step instructions

1. Create your bow shape
Start with your square sheet of paper and cut a symmetrical “butterfly” shape. Trim two triangles from the top, leaving a long, thin strip in the centre to form the bow loops.
Next, cut two long triangular slits from the bottom edges on each side to create the classic split-tail effect. For extra accuracy, you can fold your paper into quarters before cutting to keep everything even.

2. Form the loops
Add a small dab of glue to the top corner of one triangle, then fold it into the centre and hold in place until secure.

3. Repeat the process
Continue this step for all four corners to create both loops of your bow.

4. Shape the tails
Take the two bow tail pieces of the bow and fold them downward, so they are behind the loops of the bow.
Use glue to secure the tails behind the loops at the base, ensuring they are firmly attached and won't shift out of place.

5. Add the centre detail

Take the remaining strip and curl upwards over the glued-down points of the loops and behind. Secure in place on the back using glue.
6. Finish and decorate

Add your decorative DIY bow to gift wrapping and card-making projects, or as a handmade décor in your home.
