How to Make a Wildwood Whimsy Scrapbook page

  1. Read time: 4 minutes
  2. Written by: Crafter's Companion

Scrapbooking is a beautiful way to capture memories and tell the stories behind your favourite photos. If you’re new to scrapbooking or simply want a quick and easy project, this Wildwood Whimsy scrapbook page is the perfect place to start. Featuring soft woodland patterns, adorable ephemera, and simple layering, this design creates a charming layout without the need for colouring or die-cutting. It’s beginner-friendly and works just as well as a mini album page or a smaller scrapbook layout, making it wonderfully versatile.

Follow the step-by-step guide below to create your own woodland-inspired page.

What You Will Need:

Step 1: Create Your Base

Begin by cutting a piece of white card to 8” x 8” to form the base of your scrapbook page.

From the Paper Pad, choose a light coloured pattern and trim it to 7¾” x 7¾”.
Layer and adhere this onto the white base to create a soft background for your layout.

Step 2: Add the Background Layers

Cut a strip of blue bark-effect paper from the paper pad to 5” x 7¾”.

To add texture and a slightly rustic feel, gently distress the two long edges using an edge distressing tool. If you don’t have one, you can carefully use the edge of a scissor blade to achieve a similar effect.

Next, cut a piece of floral-patterned paper to 4½” x 7¾”.

Layer the floral paper on top of the bark-effect strip and adhere both layers to your scrapbook base.

Step 3: Prepare and Add Your Photo

Take your 4” square photo and create a simple mat and layer to frame it.

  1. Cut a piece of wood-patterned paper to 4½” square and mount your photo onto it.

  2. Then cut a piece of lilac linen card to 4¾” square and layer the mounted photo onto this.

Once assembled, adhere the photo in the centre of your scrapbook page.

Step 4: Add the Woodland Characters

Now it’s time to bring the page to life with the adorable Wildwood Whimsy ephemera.

  • Attach the squirrel to the top of the photo using 3D foam pads to add dimension.

  • Place the mouse toward the bottom left corner of the page, also using foam pads to give it a lifted effect.

Step 5: Create a Journaling Spot

Take the wreath ephemera piece and glue a small piece of white card behind it. This creates a lovely journaling space where you can write a memory, date, or short note.

Position the wreath in the bottom right corner of the page, slightly overlapping the corner of your photo.

Step 6: Add the Sentiment

Using the Sentiment Stamp, stamp “Blooming Lovely” onto a piece of white card with a black inkpad.

Trim the stamped sentiment and mat it onto blue linen card, leaving a ¼” border around the edge.

Attach the sentiment to the top left of your scrapbook page, allowing it to slightly overlap the corner of your photo.

Your Page Is Complete

And that’s it! You now have a sweet and simple scrapbook page that beautifully highlights your photo while keeping the process easy and approachable. The soft layers, distressed edges, and woodland ephemera create a charming design that looks detailed without requiring complex techniques.

This layout is perfect for beginners and can easily be adapted for mini albums, memory books, or themed scrapbook pages. Try experimenting with different photos or papers from the collection to create a whole set of coordinating pages. 🌿🐿️📸
