Creating unbeatable dimension and adding incredible texture to your papercraft backgrounds has never been easier than with the Textured 3D Embossing Folders! Gone are the days of having to use an embossing tool to add raised details – you simply need a folder, your favourite paper or card, and your die-cutting machine.

At a glance, these folders may seem a little bit intimidating or complicated, but we’re here to tell you that they’re actually pretty simple! Just follow the instructions below to find out how to use them and we’ll also give you some suggestions on how to embellish the raised effect further.

Step 1

Choose your favourite paper or card and your favourite embossing folder. We recommend using a solid shade with a pearlescent effect – it looks fabulous!

Step 2

Place the card or paper inside the folder. If your material is smaller than the folder, make sure you line it up to get the design exactly where you want it.

Step 3

Layer up your sandwich, starting with the clear cutting plate, followed by the magnetic shim, the embossing folder with the paper or card inside, and a final clear cutting plate. If you need any more advice on die-cutting sandwiches, check out our sandwich menu.

Step 4

Feed this sandwich through the die-cutting machine, then free the folder to reveal the 3D design. It should practically bursting from the page!

Decorating your textured 3D designs is super simple too! The possibilities truly are endless, so you could:

Use bright coloured paper or card for a pop of fun

Mat and layer with contrasting card

Use gilding wax for a beautiful sheen

Ink the folder before embossing for the letterpress effect

Create an ombre effect by blending shades of ink together

Highlight raised areas with metallic line details

You can also use your Textured 3D Embossing Folders to add a raised design to card or paper, then die-cut individual elements, for pieces with pizzazz. You can add even more height and dimension by adhering them to projects with foam pads!
