Create a sweet surprise with this fun and colourful sliding gift box perfect for birthdays, celebrations, and special occasions. With a clever hidden drawer and a decorative window, this project is a creative way to present sweets, treats, or small gifts.

What you’ll need:

How to make the gift box

Begin by cutting a piece of white cardstock to 4¾” x 6¾”. Place the short edge against the edge of the scoreboard and score at ⅞” and 5⅞”, then turn the cardstock and score at ⅞” and 3⅞”.

Fold and burnish all the score lines, then cut small notches at each corner to form tabs. Assemble the box base by folding up the sides and securing the tabs with a glue tape pen.

Next, cut a piece of ivory cardstock to 5” x 8½”. Place the short edge against the edge of the scoreboard and score at 3”, 4”, 7” and 8”. Then, using a ⅜” circle die, cut an aperture in the panel between the 4” and 7” score lines.

Fold and burnish all the score lines, then cut a piece of acetate to 3” x 2½”. Adhere this behind the aperture on the inside to create a window. Assemble and glue the sliding lid together.

Die cut your chosen embellishments, we’ve used the Celebrations Mini Die Set. Stamp your sentiment and mat and layer it onto coloured cardstock for added depth.

Attach your embellishments to the outer box using foam pads for a raised effect. Finally, fill your box with sweets, small gifts, or thoughtful treats for a beautiful finishing touch.

This sliding gift box is a simple yet effective way to elevate your gift-giving. Whether you fill it with sweets, small presents, or thoughtful surprises, it’s sure to bring a smile to anyone who receives it. Try switching up the colours, sentiments, and embellishments to suit any occasion and make each design uniquely yours!
