Tutorial: Happy Birthday card

  1. Read time: 2 minutes

If you’ve missed any of the tutorials I’ve shared so far for my Signature Collection, you can see them all by clicking here.

I’m a bit later than I meant to be posting this one today, but it’s a great start to the weekend! I hope you’ll give this gorgeous card a try and show me what you make!

How I put it together:

1. Take a 6×6 card base and score from the right corner to the left, to give you your twisted easel shape (I love thee cards – they’re so unique and definitely deserve pride of place!)

2. Cut the ribbon corner from the chosen paper. You’ll need to trim it down a bit to fit on the top of your easel.

3. Using the LV1 and LV2 Spectrum Noir pens, go around the bow to give it a shadow to make it pop a little more.

Top tip: try this with other printed elements you add to your papercrafting projects – it gives a great touch of colour!

4. Using the rest of the paper you printed, cut a piece to go on the bottom of the card base.

5. Using the same pens as earlier, colour a patch big enough to fit the Happy Birthday die on to (it’s fine to just scribble – I did!), die cut and emboss this.

Also die cut and emboss a plain white one too, so you have two different die cut sentiment.

Place them on top of each other to give a shadow effect – isn’t that a brilliant look? I love it!

6. Place the sentiment on the top half of the card.

7. Die cut three of the butterflies and place them on the bottom to use as stops to hold the easel in place.

Also, I need to pick three winner for my Anna Griffin colouring book giveaway! Congratulations to Christine MacDonald, Alison Horne and Lindsay Firth! Please email prizes@crafterscompanion (be sure to tell them what you won) and they’ll organise sending your colouring book out to you!

Crafty hugs,
Sara x
