Wedding Day Gift Bag Tutorial

Create something truly special for the bride by pairing a thoughtful gift with a handmade gift bag. Simple to make and easy to personalise, it’s a beautiful way to showcase your creativity while giving her something she’ll cherish.
What you’ll need:
- White Cardstock
- Blue Linen Cardstock
- Light Blue Linen Cardstock
- Sentiment Stamp - we’ve used Sara Signature Antique Lace - Banners & Heartfelt Sentiments
- Blue Inkpad
- Ribbon
- Paper Trimmer
- Scissors
- Scoreboard
- Bone Folder
- Hole Punch/Eyelet Tool
- Tape Pen
- All Purpose Glue
How to make the gift bag
To create your handmade gift bag, start by cutting a piece of white cardstock to 7½” x 11½”.
Score along the short edge at ½”, 2”, 6” and 7½”. Then turn the cardstock to the long edge and score all the way along at 1½” to create the base.
Turn the card back to the short edge and score at 1¼” and 6¾”, stopping approximately 1” above the bottom score line. This will form the sides of your bag.
Fold and burnish all the full score lines to create crisp edges. Along the bottom edge, cut small notches up to the ½”, 2”, 6” and 7½” score lines to create tabs for folding.
Use the narrow side tab to glue the bag together, securing it neatly to the opposite edge. Then fold up the base and adhere using a tape pen or all-purpose glue.
To decorate, cut a piece of blue linen cardstock to 2” x 5½”, a piece of light blue cardstock to 2” x 5”, and a piece of white cardstock to 2” x 4½”. Trim one end of each piece into a ribbon shape for a decorative finish.
Stamp your chosen sentiment onto the white panel using an inkpad, we’ve used a stamp from the Sara Signature Antique Lace collection for an elegant touch.
Layer the three pieces together using a tape pen, slightly offsetting each layer to reveal the colours beneath. Attach this panel to the front of your gift bag.
Finish by adding a ribbon bow to the top centre for a beautiful decorative touch. You can also add handles if desired, or use a hook and loop dot to keep the bag securely closed.
