Designer Saturday: Lorraine Mackie

27/07/13

This week it’s the lovely Lorraine Mackie’s turn in the spotlight, and we can’t wait to let her share more about herself with you!

“Hello, my name’s Lorraine, I’m one of the newest Crafter’s Companion DT members and loving every minute of it.

I have been crafting now since my gran first taught me to knit & crochet when I was 4 or 5 years old and very soon after she taught me embroidery (my mam still has the first thing I made, an embroidered needle case that I made and believe it or not it’s still in one piece lol).

“I have always been interested in anything crafty and I love to learn new techniques. I was introduced to cardmaking by my mam a few years ago and of all the papercrafting techniques I would say stamping and colouring are my favourites, I also like to make my own embellishments from polymer clay.

“My favourite crafting tips are:-

– Using a glass cutting mat as I find this a lot easier to use and I get better results than using a regular self heal mat.

– When stamping I now use Neenah Solar White and I find I get much better results and the colours are truer.

“Another thing I like to do when I’ve finished colouring a stamped image I like to add glossy accents to eyes and lips or shoes and bags, I think that it adds a little extra definition.”

We think you will agree that Lorraine brings so much creativity and talent to our team – we’re so happy to have her!
