Tales of Wonderland - Cogs of Time 2D Embossing Folder 5" x 7"

Embossing creates raised patterns on paper or card, adding texture and dimension. It’s a simple way to give handmade cards, gift tags and scrapbook pages extra detail.

An embossing folder is a patterned plastic folder that presses a design into paper or card. You’ll need a compatible die-cutting and embossing machine and the recommended plates to use it.

2D embossing folders create a raised design at a single depth, while 3D folders create several levels of depth for a more detailed, sculpted effect.

Smooth cardstock around 220–280gsm is a good starting point, as it holds raised detail well. Pearl cardstock also works beautifully, helping your embossed designs catch the light.

Embossing folders use pressure to create texture in the card itself. Heat embossing uses embossing ink, powder and a craft heat tool to create a raised finish on the surface.
