How to use
  • To feed a die through the Gemini Junior you must first sandwich it between the included plates and shims.
  • The white cutting plates should always be the top and bottom plates of this sandwich. These are the only two plates which should ever touch the rollers.
  • The combination between the cutting plates is flexible.

This combination is suitable for most thin metal dies. Thicker metal dies (such as Crafter’s Companion™ multi media dies, or other brands of deep-dish dies) will need a different configuration (see page 4). Our suggestion is that you always start with this
sandwich when using a new style or brand of thin metal die – then, if you require more or less pressure you can adjust your sandwich accordingly.

NOTE: Because of the high level of pressure in the machine, the cutting plates will naturally bow over time – this does not affect the performance of the plates or the machine, but you can reduce bowing on the plates by rotating and flipping them between each pass.

What’s the difference between a manual and an electric die-cutting machine?

A manual Gemini machine works by turning a handle, while an electric Gemini machine feeds your plates and materials through automatically. Both cut and emboss, but electric models do the winding for you. Additionally you can use LetterPress with our larger electronic Gemini machines.

Which Gemini machine is best for me as a beginner?

The Gemini Mini is a great starting point for smaller projects, while the Gemini Midi offers room for larger projects. For automatic cutting without turning a handle, consider the electric Gemini II.

What tools and accessories do I need to get started with a Gemini machine?

You’ll need paper or card, a compatible die or embossing folder, and the correct plates or cutting folder for your machine. Check your chosen machine’s product description to see which accessories are included.

Can I use dies and embossing folders from other brands with my Gemini machine?

Yes, many thin metal dies and embossing folders from other brands can be used with Gemini machines. Check that their size and thickness are compatible with your model, and always follow the recommended plate combination.
