Iris Folding is a design which recreates the look of a camera iris using folded strips of coloured card or paper shown through a shaped aperture. 

It’s a famously tricky craft technique, but we’ve made it easy and accessible with the Gemini Iris Folding Collection!

Iris Folding is a papercraft technique that creates a unique design using small folded strips of coloured paper. The aim is to create a design with a focal point or centre that looks like the iris of a camera lens.

Each set in the Gemini Iris Folding Collection includes one shaped aperture die and a reusable printed template.

Follow the numbered sequence on the printed template to layer your paper pieces and take all the difficulty out of Iris Folding!

Here are some step-by-step instructions:

• Use a Gemini Die Cutting Machine, create your plate combination using the helpful Sandwich Guide in the instruction manual and die-cut the aperture die from your Iris Folding set.
• Place the template on your card front, so the numbers show through the reverse of your cut out design.
• Follow the template to place folded paper strips in the numbered sequence shown and secure with tape or adhesive
• Turn your card around and voila – a stunning dimensional Iris Folded design!
